And why would that be? Take a look at the news from Amazon, your favorite place to buys books… and close to anything else you can imagine. With only a few people noticing Amazon is in the VDI business! How, you may ask. Click this Amazon link and you’ll see – Amazon VDI.
What Amazon is doing is using their Elastic Cloud, EC2 to create virtual instances of the Android (Linux derivative) with a single app that you’re interested in so you can play with it before buying. So at any one time, Amazon’s EC2 cloud infrastructure will support thousands of simultaneous VDI instances for a few minutes at a time so people can work with a virtual Android instance.
This will be just one of the many commercial exploits of the VDI concept. It’s coming, be it in the cloud, on your TV, on the computer, on your cell phone and actually in your office, where it belongs. The transition to VDI at the desktop is coming so that your PC will be where it belongs… in the data center.
